The results are in, and A-list Hollywood stars joined AARP Magazine for the Movies for Grownups Awards Gala last week, and boy, were they A-list. The likes of Robert Deniro, Sean Penn, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Billy Crystal gathered to present and win awards.
One highlight of the night was when Sean Penn awarded Robert Deniro with the Movies for Grownups® Lifetime Achievement Award, who described his fellow colleague and friend as a "consummate, ground-breaking actor." During the gala, Entertainment Editor Bill Newcott told the crowd:

"There's no doubt that 2009 was a year in which 50+ actors and filmmakers rocked Hollywood, providing film content that drove audiences and numbers at the box office. We're proud that we have become a bellwether for the Oscars. . . And we're equally proud of those films that rise to the top of our list, but are somehow overlooked elsewhere. You'll find a few of those tonight--the kinds of hidden gems that our audience counts on us to uncover for them year-round."
Other honors went to the phenomenal Jeff Bridges for Best Actor, Helen Mirren for Best 50+ Actress and Morgan Freeman accepted the award for Clint Eastwood's Invictus winning the highest award of Best Movie for Grownups.
