A research team, coordinated by Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research, found that the “accountability that comes with group participation can be instrumental in successful weight loss.” Their 2010 study, reported in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, found that the more often people used an interactive site supporting their fitness goals, the more successful they were in losing weight—and then maintaining their weight loss.
