The Takeaway: 90-Year-Old Fashion Designer Makes a Comeback

Legendary menswear designer Pierre Cardin celebrated his first catwalk show in years Sunday, showcasing  a new crop of his signature space-agey designs (think Star Trek meets Magical Mystery Tour). Cardin, who turns 90 this month, "invented Paris menswear shows back in the 1950s," according to the Associated Press, and is the one responsible for first dressing the Beatles in collar-less jackets.

"I've still got gasoline for tomorrow," Cardin told AP.

I was the youngest couturier in Paris when I started, and now I'm the oldest. It's extraordinary, I'm still here!"

Not only "still here" but still full of creativity, too: Cardin's latest show featured 138 looks, making it the "most exhaustive" high-fashion menswear collection of the season.

Cardin is the last of a generation of post-War Parisian couturier that includes Christian Dior and Coco Chanel. See Cardin's website for photos of how his designs have evolved from the 1950s to today.
