Fourteen states are participating in sales-tax holidays between Aug. 1 and the end of September. Depending on your state’s guidelines (some set a maximum dollar amount on how much you can buy), you can purchase clothing, shoes, school supplies and even computers without paying any sales tax.
In addition to savings on back-to-school items, the FTA also lists tax holidays for buying Energy Star appliances, hurricane-preparedness supplies, and even hunting gear and ammunition.
Check to see if your state participates before reaching for your wallet.
