With Chef star John Leguizamo as host and Kevin Costner as recipient of the  Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award, the gala celebrates the best of films with special relevance and appeal to the 50+ audience.

Expected among the stars on the red carpet at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel are two performers who won Screen Actors Guild awards last weekend and are considered shoo-ins for Academy Awards later this month:  Julianne Moore, whose performance in Still Alice earned the MFG Best Actress award, and  J.K. Simmons, who will take home the Best Supporting Actor for Whiplash.

Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, also both up for acting Oscars, will accept the  Best Movie for Grownups award for their film  The Theory of Everything. And Richard Linklater, nominated for both directing and writing Oscars, will pick up his second MFG trophy, this time as Best Director for  Boyhood. Oscar nominee and SAG award winner Patricia Arquette, who stars in Boyhood, will present Linklater with his honor.

The lineup of presenters is as stellar as that of the honorees, beginning with Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, who costars with Costner in the new movie  Black or White and who will present his Career Achievement Award. The presenter list also includes Oscar nominees Laura Dern (Wild) and Damien Chazelle (adapted screenplay,  Whiplash), Oscar-winner Jeremy Irons, Chris Pratt,  Maria Shriver, AARP YouTube star  George Takei, Rick Springfield, John Ratzenberger, Wendie Malick, Penelope Ann Miller and Emjay Anthony, the 11-year-old in  Chef, who will give his Chef costar Jon Favreau the honor for Best Comedy.

In addition to the celebration of Hollywood’s best, the night of glamour and excitement is a fundraising event to benefit AARP Foundation’s efforts to relieve hunger among Americans 50-plus.
