Keeping Medicare Fair and Going Strong (Category: medicare)
Champ would be proud. On Wednesday, a bi-partisan group of legislators in Congress overwhelmingly passed the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008.
You, the grassroots, are largely responsible for this achievement. But we can't yet rest on our laurels. We still need to take action: President Bush is threatening to veto this critical legislation that would protect millions of Medicare beneficiaries as well as the thousands of doctors that are involved in the Medicare program.
Our friends at Keep Medicare Fair have all the tools you need to keep the pressure on our decision makers. If push comes to shove, we will have to mobilize to force congress to override a possible veto. In the meantime, tell President Bush to sign the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 into law immediately.

This BILL must be VETOED and not over-ridden. It removes the market forces that keep costs down. I do not want to be dependant on Congress to decide what my health needs are. Competitive market forces are the best way to keep costs down. Those of you who want socialized medicine should move to Canada or England. Leave our Medi-Care alone and let the market keep costs in line. My kids cannot afford to support a MediCare system run by Congress.
I AM SHOCKED THAT NOBODY ELSE HAS STOOD UP TO SAY: "THANK YOU, PRESIDENT BUSH, FOR THE VETO."

All our working life we have money taken out of every one of our pay checks to go towards Medicare and now the government does not want to give us what we are entitled to. For years they have been taking money out of the Medicare fund and squandered it elsewhere. This government has proven that it either does not care or just does not have a clue what a struggle the average person has just to make ends meet. They don't even know average salary of the middle class, it certainly isn't between $75,000 - $125,000 as they have quoted. It is a very sad state of affairs when people have to make a choice of either "bills" or "pills". There are a lot of people out there who cannot afford the doctors/hospital bills and for a country as wealthy as this country that is pretty sad.
