shAARP Talk: Observations from AARP

(Category: General AARP)

One small bright spot coming out of the doom and gloom of economic news this week: gas prices are way down. Despite this good news, demand is still remaining uncharacteristically low here. Why? Well for starters with the national average still above $3.40 a gallon, gas isn't exactly cheap. Americans seems to be sticking with their newly learned frugal habits and the lack of demand will likely drive prices even lower. This is a good thing, especially considering how the cost of everything else seems to have gone up even as we have less money to spend. If you're looking for ways to save on gas, try these tips, or if you're really feeling desperate to save on your commute, there's always this:

Kathy Kinsey says:

I would like the canidates talk about rebuilding our railway system. This is the most fuel efficient transportation system. It formerly networked urban and rural America. Much of the infrastructure remains in place but needs updating. Travel from much of rural American would probably be more time efficient than air travel since one needs to travel far to access a main airport and you need to wait. The country should provide incentives for people to use public transportation over other forms of transit. Instead of what McCain proposed last summer of waving the gas tax.

A very Knowledgable Nat Gas Advocate 14 generation American says:

America does not have a “gas problem” --- what we have is a “gasoline problem”. We also have the “best government money can buy” and “Big Oil” has beat us to the punch and has already bought them. Americans have been “conned” into thinking that it is the Republicans that are “in-bed” with Big Oil, while the Party most aligned are the Democrats --- but plenty of Republicans have dirty hands in this issue. Big Oil’s money has no Party allegiance --- they will buy anyone up for sale --- so that ends up being a large majority.

The simple answer is natural gas. We could be virtually independent of foreign oil in three months if we had statesmen/ladies that were not corrupt. Sarah Palen is the most truthful and knowledgeable individual in politics today. John McCain showed me something when he picked her as his running mate. Knowledgeable advocates have been trying to get Alaskan natural gas to markets for 25 years! Instead of utilizing it for fuel, it is typically burned off or some marginally successful attempts are made at pumping it deep underground. But Nat Gas is lighter than air so it finds its way quickly into the atmosphere and pollutes the Ozone layer.

If Nat Gas is burned the results are H2O {water} and CO2. We can use the water and trees use the CO2 and turn it into Oxygen O2. Why don’t we burn Nat Gas in our cars?

There is not a single local reason why we don’t! I could list all of the advantages but most know them by now --- more horsepower, more engine life, 60% less expensive than gasoline, eliminates the need for dirty refineries, safer in an accident etc.

The only reason we don’t burn Nat Gas and instead burn gasoline is that “Big Oil” will not build filling stations. Why won’t they? Because Nat Gas is so superior that gasoline would go the way of the Dodo bird! “Big Oil” would be out of business! We would have to shut down and dismantle most of the refineries.

America is the Saudis Arabia of Nat Gas! The Saudis own many of our Politicians. The Saudis paid for Barack Obama’s tuition at Harvard. That is an odd fact! Life is Queer!

Robert Keller says:

I'm 62 years old and started drawing Social security. I found I can not live on what i get, even working a part-time job. I decided to go back to work and ask the Social Security Dept to stop my Checks. I was told that if I wanted to stop my social security I would have to pay back every dime they have given me. I want to know why the Senior Citizens are being Punished. I have paid into Social security since I was 12 years old. What can be done about this and what are they going to do to fix the Social security so The Ederly are not being Punish for trying to live a normal life. Iwas also told that since I have gone back to work that they are holding My social Sedurity until they see how much I make so they can take what they want and make me pay the rest. I guess this is a way for our Goverment to fix there budget by killing off all the Senior Citzens by Starving them to death.
