I really appreciate the updates on different subject matters.

What would mean a great deal to me is the repeal of the social security "Windffall."

It is very difficult for me to understand why Congress has not acted to repeal both the "windfall" and the "pension offset." Social Security has been PAID by citizens and they are being treated UNFAIRLY in the distribution. Along with everybody else who is being assisted in this economy, persons who have PAID into the system MUST be given their portion of social security benefits. It was UNFAIR when created, and remains UNFAIR. Let's work to get these repeals in 2009!!! It was my husband's plan that I would receive my portion of his social security if he passed. He has been gone to two years now. Receiving my widow's portion NOW or at 62 or 65 would be a great help to me.

I would like to know If AARP is trying to support repeal of the windall and pension offset by supporting bill HR 235?

Rhonda Atkins says:

I am trying to contact everyone I can to support the repeal of the Windfall and pension offset. My husband has worked most of his life, and we have been married 40 years. If he died, I could not get most of his Social Security, because I collect a small retirement from the State of Alaska. But like my husband said, if he married someone else that never worked a day in their life, they could collect it! Otherwise, it just goes away. I know there are Senators and other officials that collect several retirements and this needs to be corrected.

Warren Toneman says:

This would be a tremendous and fair way to help many government/state employees who worked 2 or 3 jobs for many years and now don't get the benefits they paid for. Where does AARP stand on this?
