After watching this convince me that AARP is right in supporting this administrations version of health care reform and that AARP exists for the benefit of older Americans.

Charles M. Murphy says:
I have just cancelled my membership to AARP #3037773219 because of your endorsement of the Health Care Reform Act working its way through Congress. I am opposed to this leglislation and the potential government control of citizen's health choices, espically the elderly, and your endorsement does not represent me or my family. In fact, I am appalled that you would endorse this, never thought I would see the day.

Mavis Wright says:
AARP has always had the reputation of being a liberal organization and again you haven't dispelled that reputation. For an organization founded on senior citizens, it is totally incomprehensible that you could and would support the Health Care Reform bill. Has any staff member actually read the bill or was the decision to support the bill made in the same uneducated manner as some members of Congress? This bill penalizes senior citizens and takes their rights as patients away. It places their care into the hands of power- hungry government officials who, so far, haven't proved they can run anything efficiently. There must be "Chicago politics" playing a part in your decision to support the bill rather than the senior citizens who support your organization. Perhaps the truth will eventually surface because so far we are not getting it from our administration. Their comments and answers are as convoluted as your representatives when asked direct questions.

Has anyone in your organation read the Obama health plan ? If you have, you would not support it. Don't bother sending me a renewal application. What is the payback for your administraters to support the plan . All of my elderly friends are not going to renew. I suggest you rethink your posistion.

Edward R Bailey says:
I have read AARP positions on health care and your support for the Democrat plans being crafted in the US House and Senate. I am a physician (for 31 years), I have an MBA and I have been the medical director of a managed care organization for the past eight years. Based on my experience, you, as an organization are deluded, bought off or viewing the health care proposals through rose-colored glasses. Do you realize the major savings needed to push thru any of the plans is dependent on "savings" from denying or "non-approving" care to your constituents? You are supposed to be an interest group representing seniors who have already made a significant contribution to society--and the costs of their health care, why are you selling them down the river? Do you think you will emerge as one of the winners? AARP will go under the bus in the first wave of the public plan because you represent a disproportionate share of patients with health needs that consume lots of dollars needed for the uninsured.

Ken Ruzek says:
I can't believe that AARP would even consider supporting this healthcare plan. You should be jumping up and down trying to stop this non-sense. Read the plan, realize the damage it will do to our healthcare system, and STRONGLY and VOCALLY oppose this plan and represent your members.
