Understanding the Senate Finance Committee Health Care Bill
As we all know, the Senate Finance Committee took the first major step toward health reform by voting in favor of a health reform package which Max Baucus says will ensure that "in the United States of America no person goes broke just because he or she gets sick." But what is in it exactly? AARP Bulletin posted this mini visual explanation of what is entailed; check it out.

Richard Johnson says:
How can this be, when the Senate version isn't even a bill yet?? And who exactly do you think will pay all the "fees" and "taxes" on insurance companies?? The companies?? Not a chance..IT WILL BE PASSED ON TO US IN FORM OF HIGHER PREMIUMS!!! It has already been in the Papers that those of us who are older will pay more, and the younger pay less. And Rousch, in 2007, said in a presentation to Berkly College, that "we" meaning Gov't, will not be spending huge amounts of money on older people, just to extend their lives a couple months. That it was a waste so to do, what with the high cost of the newer options and medications. I agree, we need reform..Just not this kind..My suggestion? Scrap Medicare and Medicaid, period. Every one..and I mean EVERYONE, whether on SSI, Welfare, unemployment or employed, pay a say.. 3-5% fee on GROSS earnings..That means Bill Gates, as well as Sally Sue on welfare. EVERYONE PAYS INTO IT. and then a small co-pay when one goes to the Doctor..Higher if one goes to the ER with a non-emergency. Tort reform.. Get the trial lawyers out of it. USA is about the only nation where lawyers work on a contigency fee..Most others give an exact accounting of hours, paperclips, etc..Billed monthly..Certainly not a high percentage of what YOU won.
Lots of rhetoric going around on both sides. One needs only look at what the Gov't has been involved in: SSI, bankrupt. Medicare/caid: Bankrupt. War on Poverty: worse than ever. War on drugs: not working. Govt is the worse possible solution to this problem..We are already in debt for our children and grandchildren..Do we now impose the debt on our
Greatgrandchildren and beyond..?? Some where this wreckless spending has to stop..
