Mr. Jarratt says:
I can hardly believe that the AARP would indorse Obamas Health Care Reform Bill. Have you people completely lost your minds…as a senior I want nothing to do with The AARP from here on out…as far as I am concerned and I speak for a lot of concerned citizens The AARP administration is a bunch of seditionist bastards. Please don’t send me any more of your CRAP. FROM ONE AMERICAN SENIOR “ ALL of you can go straight to hell. “
If Obama Had Told Us Before His Election
October 16, 2009 by Phyllis Schlafly
If Barack Obama had campaigned on what he has actually done in his first 300 days in office, would he have been elected? That's the question so many are asking today.
If Obama had told us he would appoint 34 Czars, reporting only to himself and not vetted or confirmed in the constitutional way, building a powerful unitary executive branch of government, would he have been elected? What if he had told us that his Green Jobs Czar had been a Communist, that the Science Czar wrote in a college textbook that compulsory "green abortions" are an acceptable way to control population growth, and that the Diversity Czar has spoken publicly of getting white media executives to "step down" in favor of minorities?
If Obama had told us he would take over the automobile industry faster than any socialist dictator ever nationalized an industry, fire the CEO of General Motors and replace him with a Democratic Party campaign contributor, would Obama have been elected? If Obama had campaigned on closing down thousands of profitable car dealers, nearly all Republicans, would we have believed that this vindictive financial retaliation against those who didn't vote for Obama could happen in America?
If Hugo Chavez, the Communist who nationalized most of Venezuela's industries, had said before the election that "Comrade Obama" would nationalize the U.S. automobile industry and "end up to his right," would anybody have believed it? If talk shows had warned against such a socialist takeover, would the Obama-loving media have accused them of McCarthyism?
If Obama had told us he would spend $3 billion in a Cash for Clunkers program that would use taxpayers' funds to buy mostly foreign cars and grind up the used American cars traded in to make them unusable, would he have been elected?
If Obama had told us that his Stimulus package is a sham because it does not create private-sector jobs (as a tax cut would do), so that the unemployment rate has risen to nearly 10 percent, with 15 million Americans unemployed plus another 11 million underemployed, could he have been elected?
If Obama had told us his Supreme Court pick would be a woman who said repeatedly that a "Latina woman" would make better decisions than "a white male," that his pick for chief State Department lawyer would be a transnationalist who wants to integrate foreign law into law binding on U.S. citizens, and that his pick for Regulations Czar argues that animals are entitled to have lawyers to sue humans in court, would Obama have been elected?
If we had known that Obama would be totally incompetent as commander-in-chief of his chosen war in Afghanistan, and would not speak to the general in the field for 70 days, ignoring his dire report for six weeks, would Obama have been elected?
If Obama had told us he would have the government guarantee 90 percent of all U.S. mortgages, imposing $5 trillion in off-budget debt on U.S. taxpayers who had faithfully made their own mortgage payments, would he have been elected? And what if Obama had told us he would have the taxpayers take over 80 percent of all student loans at a cost of $1 trillion over the next decade?
If Obama had told us that he would make the U.S. government a major shareholder in Citigroup (one of the world's largest banks), would you have believed he could get away with this socialist takeover?
If Obama had admitted that his health care plan would include the same provisions for which he ran negative TV ads against Hillary Clinton (a federal mandate requiring every American to buy health insurance) and against John McCain (a tax on high-cost employer-based plans), would Obama have been elected?
And what if Obama had told us that his federal health plan would pay for all abortions without regard to the Hyde Amendment, and provide full health care (including private doctor visits) to immigrants without requiring proof of legal residence?
If Obama had campaigned on increasing federal spending and debt from a multi-billion-dollar level to multi-trillions, would he have been elected? And what if Obama had told us that his promise to "spread the wealth around" would balloon his first year's budget deficit to $1.6 trillion?
If Obama had told us that his promise to "spread the wealth around" meant wiping out the Republican welfare reform of 1996 and increasing annual welfare spending by 39 percent to almost $1 trillion a year by the end of his first term, would he have been elected?
If Obama had declared during his campaign that his first major speech abroad would be to the Muslim world, and that he would proclaim in Muslim Turkey that "one of the great strengths of the United States is . . . we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation," would he have been elected?

Charles Laughlin says:
It was with disappointment and great alarm that I learned that the AARP has decided to endorse the Affordable Health Care for America Act..
I believe this endorsement does not represent the informed majority of AARP members and that the AARP Executives and Board have sipped the Obama/Pelosi Kool Ade.. thinking that there is a part of this bill that is good for Seniors... without looking at the catastrophic effects it has in general... and even the "good" part for seniors is a sham...
As a senior, I can see the deplorable ineffectiveness of the social security system, the medicare system, etc ie ANY government run program... so only a fool, an idiot, an expletive deleted would believe that any new program would see anything other that the abject incompetence in structure and management that is rampant in the ones that now exist... In simple terms.... do give more work to the worker who is unable to handle the work they already have...
The people of New Jersey and Virginia have "spit our the Kool Aid" by dumping their Obama puppets... they see the true picture of Obama... a flim flam man of the ultimate degree.. a stranger to truth and a user of moral terpitude...
But Americans are resilient ... we can come back... as soon as we vote out the Obama Abomination... and send the AARP bigwigs packing.... it cannot happen too soon.

I have to admit that AARP is not representing the growing aging population. The healthcare reform that AARP approves will be the healthcare you receive in Cuba or Russia. We already know what happens to those in the Netherlands who become non-contributing to society. The end result for those is lethal injection. Anything that is operated and controlled by the government has not only been a financial nightmare for all Americans, but also a lack of quality. I would rather pay for healthcare and make it more affordable by bringing competition within the healthcare market, than receiving poor government run healthcare where everyone is covered. Believe me, they will have to make decisions as to who will receive healthcare if you are really sick (cancer). They will look at your prognosis/and age. The government will decide what your choices are. They will decide your destiny, not YOU!

I am so surprised, that AARP would support this abomination of a health care bill. If the stupid administration can't even get flu shots out how will they administer health care. If the bill is not even written how can they support it.. sounds like someone got paid off..I know that AARP is in the pocket of the DUMBOCRATS and Nancy Polosi and Harry Illiterate, and Barack the Crock of S but I'll be darned if I will support this outrage of a socialistic mess they are creating. Can we elect new leaders of AARP..who they H are they and how did they get there and how can we kick them in the A ! This is just the beginning .. the Stupid ones have just seen the tip of the iceberg.

AARP should be ashamed to have endorsed this Health Care Program. This organization was supposedly impartial, but has now succumbed to peer pressure from this powerful yet misguided and naive congress and president. You will be changing your stance in 5 years when you realize this reform turns out to be a debacle and fraud. Shame on you AARP. I've encouraged everyone I know to cancel their membership

Thomas M. Schwarber says:
Read about your recent endorsement of the 2000 page, 1 trillion dollar, Health Care Reform Bill up for a vote in the House. Wondering how a group that means to speak for seniors could endorse a bill that cuts 500 billion dollars out of Medicare. Our health care providers have told us they may not be able to take Medicare patients any longer if this is passed and our Cancer Care providers have told us this will cut their reimbursements by 20-25%. We don't feel that a bill which penalizes doctors and seniors in this way is in any way beneficial. We have read your arguments for it and can only conclude that you have not really read the bill but are giving in to political pressures on your group. You certainly don't speak for us when you act in such an irresponsible manner and we hope you will soon take the time to actually read the bill and rethink your ill-considered endorsement of it.

My wife and I have been aarp members since 1993. After you have announced your support this abominable legislation, I realize that you have become a liberal support group that is anathema to any values held by Americans and our Constitution and it's Bill of Rights.
I cannot find any mention in these founding documents that grants Congress the authority to inflict this legislation upon the nation. That you would support this abomination is totally reprehensible! I absolve you of any permission you may think you have to represent me in the present or the future.
I have canceled our membership in aarp and trust you will refund the remainder of our membership fee. Shame on me for being a member since 1993.
Goodbye.

I am shocked and dismayed at your support of the health care program. I have been a member for over twenty years and have thought that you supported senior citizens. I am now convinced that your entry into the insurance business has taken over unbiased representation on the members in favor of the business relations of AARP.
My membership is cancelled. I have a great number of close associates that I am advising to cancell as well. We are the stock holders of AARP and will vote out the administration that has lost focus on the members. Please don't send me any more of your sales stuff.

A Barry Rand wrote a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi in which he states he speaks on behalf of the nearly 40 million Members in support of HR 3962. At one time he didn't have to use the "nearly" because by reading the blogs on SHAARP SESSIONS, it is obvious he is aware he has lost members over his issue and apparently does not care. Members AARP must be getting their money from some other source than membership dues because they certainly don't seem to care what the membership thinks about their actions.
Mr. A Barry Rand let me put this in the strongest possible terms I can: YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME AND IF THE OPINIONS ON THESE BLOGS ARE A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF THE SENTIMENTS OF YOUR MEMBERS (no reason to believe it is not) IT IS SAFE TO SAY YOU SPEAK FOR VERY FEW OF YOUR MEMBERS.
You seem to think that you can tell us how to think, and that like good little children we will just step in line. I assure you your members are smart people and do not have to have anybody to tell then what to think on this issue. Your letter is all sweet and nice in selling this as a good plan for seniors. . .What it does not address is that HR3962 includes a public option that is only an option for now. Eventually it will become mandatory as employers looking to save costs dump their expensive employee benefit plans in favor of the public "OPTION".
The letter references the all-volunteer non-partisan board as being in favor of this bill. A BARRY RAND AND JENNIE CHIN HANSEN, NEED TO FIND NEW JOBS,AND THE ALL VOLUNTEER "NON-PARTISAN" BOARD NEEDS TO FIND SOMEPLACE ELSE TO DONATE THEIR TIME. Does anybody know how we can get rid of these people??? Its either them or probably 75% of the membership and this organization is too important to its target group. INSTEAD OF EVERYBODY JUST QUITTING LETS FIND A WAY TO DUMP THESE BUMS!!!

AARP's endorsement of the outrageous health care bill is a complete letdown and sellout to Obama against its own members. The bill eliminates subsidies for the popular MedicareAdvantage program which will result in more money for AARP. Anyone see a conflict there?
AARP acts like Acorn as a tool of the democrat/socialists.
Our membership is hereby cancelled and we have instead joined www.Americanseniors.org.
Goodbye (but not good luck) to AARP.

Jail, anyone?
Republicans opposed to the bill on the House Ways and Mean Committee said they received confirmation from the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation Friday that the Pelosi/House Democratic bill would penalize Americans who don’t get insurance either from private providers or the government.
“The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years,” House Republicans said in a statement Friday.

I called this morning to make sure AARP dropped me from their membership and mailing lists. No benefit they offer will outweigh the destruction of the health care benefits I and my family now enjoy. I am still employed and my employer offers great insurance. Under the proposed bill, employers will actually save money by dropping their insurance coverage and paying the penalty. If you like your coverage you can keep it – a lie. If you like your doctor you can keep him – a lie. After my company drops my insurance and my doctor drops those who can’t pay, I’ll be forced to use the socialist program set up by the Democrats. I’ve already seen the lousy job done by the VA and the Social Security folks. I want no part of it. AARP will never get 1 cent from me!

Richard Burson says:
I have read all the foregoing comments and agree completely that the AARP does not represent the majority of the membership. But again this is not news, the AARP has not supported the membership for some time now. AARP is receiving a large contribution from the Federal Government. It is time to wonder why that AARP is a non-profit organization, meaning they don't pay taxes. I sincerely believe that their status as a non-profit organization should be questioned because they definitely are a profit making organization. But more important than this...we need to throw out the so called leaders and elect management who will represent the majority of the membership. LETS DO IT NOW. The seniors of this great country are not sheep and will not be lead by the nose by the socialist that are attempting to tranform this country into a socialist state. We need a good democratic organization like the AARP to represent the 40 million seniors in this country but not the AARP that we apparently have now.

You no longer remain a trustworthy organization because of your alignment/endorsement of government socialized healthcare; ALL in the name of profit and Socialism! You are known by the company you keep: Pelosi, Reid, Obama.
Listen very quietly and you will hear a sucking noise. It is the sound of those of us who are leaving AARP because of your betrayal. You have stabbed us in the back by supporting Health Care Reform for your PROFIT at our expense! Profanity is in order gentlemen but I will refrain because I know you will suffer as a result of your endorsement. One by one we will be leaving. One more thing . . . do you think Medigap coverage is something I would ever buy from AARP? Never. I shall do my best to ensure no one else does either.

Secure Horizpons is my Advantage Plan, and pays money to AARP to use their logo. I intend to opt out of that too, if they don't quit giving my money to them. I hope everyone that is an AARP member, cancels their membership. Take a STAND.

I congratulate AARP on its couragous stand in supporting healthcare legislation. I am sure that many of those who oppose this position would change their minds if they found that they cold not afford necessary medical tratment because they lost their job and were denied health care insurance because of pre-existing conditions.
