If you didn’t tune into the 66th Primetime Emmys Monday night, you missed a whole lot of love of women of a certain age. At 54, 53, 67 and 65, actresses in both comedy and drama took home awards for doing some of the best work of their careers – and they looked fantastic doing it. Take Julia Louis-Dreyfus, for example. By Lynn Elber of the Associated Press LOS ANGELES “” The fantasy saga “Game of Thrones,” defying the Emmy Awards’ grudging respect for genre fare, emerged as the leader in the nominations announced Thursday with 19 bids, including best drama series. Other top nominees included a pair of ambitious miniseries, “Fargo,” with 18 bids, and “American Horror Story: Coven,” with 17. The AIDS drama “The Normal Heart” received 16 nominations, including best TV movie.
Fans of Dancing With the Stars‘ winningest pro, Derek Hough, will get to see a lot of him starting Sunday August 25. Hough hosts ABC’s Family Dance Off special in which five families with terpsichorean talents vie for a $10,000 prize. Hough has called it a feel-good show in which everyday people have the chance to rock it as dancers.
