Meal Donations after Fontana Race top 216,000

Just weeks into the NASCAR season and the Drive to End Hunger has provided more than 216,000 meals for hungry seniors. Building momentum for the initiative, four-time Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon and the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet Team finished 18th at Sunday's Auto Club Speedway 400 in Fontana, Calif., and look for their eighth win this weekend at Martinsville Speedway.
Last week AARP Foundation made a $10,000 donation on behalf of Drive to End Hunger to Second Harvest Food Bank Serving Riverside & San Bernardino Counties, near Fontana, Calif., to help feed hungry seniors in the Inland Empire. Along with food donations collected during a special event and food drive at Ralphs in Fontana, the effort provided more than 70,000 meals to Second Harvest.
"We're so pleased to be making a difference for people struggling with hunger in California and around the country," said AARP Foundation President Jo Ann Jenkins. "We congratulate Jeff and the team on a great race this weekend and thank NASCAR fans, and everyone who has donated, for their support."
