This Week in Boomer History: 'Born in the U.S.A' ... Bobby Kennedy Shot ... 'Tank Man'

Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band release Born in the U.S.A. on June 4, 1984. It becomes one of the best-selling albums of all time.
A narrow win in the California GOP primary on June 2, 1964, makes Barry Goldwater all but unstoppable in his quest for the presidential nomination at the July convention in San Francisco.
Israel battles Egypt, Jordan and Syria in the Six-Day War, also called the Third Arab-Israeli War, beginning June 5, 1967.

Sen. Robert F. Kennedy is fatally shot by Palestinian immigrant Sirhan Sirhan on June 5, 1968, hours after winning California's Democratic presidential primary. Now 70, Sirhan is serving a life sentence in a California prison.
Phylicia Rashad becomes the first African American actress to receive Broadway's Tony Award for a leading dramatic role, winning on June 6, 2004, for her work in a revival of A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry.
On June 3, 1968, Andy Warhol is shot by 32-year-old writer Valerie Solanas and is given a 50-50 chance of survival; he recovers. Solanas had appeared in the Warhol film I, a Man.
The evening of June 3 and morning of June 4, 1989, Chinese troops clear students and other pro-democracy demonstrators from Tiananmen Square in Beijing. Hundreds die. The next day, a young man stands in front of a line of tanks, temporarily stopping their advance. His identity is still unknown.
