Is 'Oz' Really So Wonderful? We'll Tell You!
By Bill Newcott, March 8, 2013 10:21 AM
We're inching closer to the big spring movie season, and the first entry comes this weekend: Oz the Great and Powerful, a prequel to the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, which became an annual viewing experience in the homes of many a boomer during their growing up years.
We've got a review of the new movie here and you can see clips from it on my new YouTube Movies for Grownups Show:
The weekend's sleeper selection is Emperor, starring Tommy Lee Jones as General Douglas MacArthur during the first days of the Allied occupation of Japan. You can see clips from it tonight at 8 p.m. on my new Movies for Grownups Presents show on RLTV (find a station here). I'll also preview new movies on DVD and Video on Demand-and then I'll introduce a screening of my favorite Fred Astaire movie, Royal Wedding. It's the one where Fred dances with a hat stand ... and goes traipsing across the ceiling!
