I may be over 50 on the outside, but in my mind I’m still a fun, wild, youthful babe. A lot of us must feel the same way, too; why else would we get tiny tattoos or wear navy polish and black bras (instead of nice-girl nude ones)?

In 2011, Oprah Winfrey surprised her audience with the revelation of a family secret - that she had a half-sister she had known nothing about for 47 years.  She introduced viewers to Patricia Lee, tearfully sharing that Patricia had found out about their link three years earlier, and was a woman of such great character that despite initial rebuffs from their mother, she had chosen not to sell their story or take it to the press.

An article in the New York Times about Oprah Winfrey and the declining readership of  O, The Oprah Magazine, her 12-year old publication, stopped me in my tracks.  Here's the paragraph that leapt off the page and gave me my own "Aha!" (but not in a good way) moment:

Well, the world didn't end as predicted last Saturday, and doubtless millions of Oprah Winfrey fans are hoping for a similar reprieve today as the woman who has ruled the afternoon for 25 years signs off from her daily broadcast for the last time ("What, did I say May 25th? I meant October 25th!").
