How Empty Nesters Are Voting

WNYC, a public radio station in New York City, is offering an intriguing angle on voting results, by breaking down the data according to different lifestyle demographics, from "monied burbs" to "tractor country." We're following one particular demographic group--"emptying nests," or communities that are home to aging baby boomers and retirees whose children are grown.

So far, like much of the rest of the electorate, the map shows this group is splitting closely between the two candidates. With 13 percent of the vote counted, Mitt Romney is getting 50 percent (517,000), compared with 49 percent (499,000) for President Obama. We'll keep you posted as the evening wears on.
