Warren Beats Brown, Democrats Retake Kennedy's Seat
By Election 2012, November 6, 2012 11:44 PM
Elizabeth Warren has captured a Senate seat from Massachusetts, defeating Scott Brown, the Republican who had replaced the late Democratic "Lion of the Senate" Edward M. Kennedy.
Warren took 54 percent of 50- to 64-year-old voters compared to 46 percent for Brown. Those voters represent 29 percent of the Bay State electorate. Among 65-plus voters, who make up 20 percent of Massachusetts voters, Warren bested Brown by 54-46 percent.
President Obama, who was heavily favored to win the blue state, did better among older voters than Warren, winning the 50-64 age group (58-41 percent) and 65-plus voters (56 to 43 percent) against Republican Mitt Romney. -Susan Milligan
