President George H.W. Bush signs the Americans with Disabilities Act into law on July 26, 1990.

Born July 25, 1978, Louise Joy Brown is the world's first " test tube baby," though she'd more accurately be called a "petri dish baby."
The House Judiciary Committee overwhelmingly (27-11) recommends on July 27, 1974, the impeachment of President Richard M. Nixon on a charge that he engaged in a "course of conduct or plan" to obstruct justice in the Watergate case.
After police raid an unlicensed Detroit bar on July 23, 1967, rioting claims 43 lives. Five days later, in the wake of other disturbances across the country, President Lyndon B. Johnson appoints the Kerner Commission to assess the causes of the violence.
At the opening of the American National Exhibition in Moscow on July 24, 1959, Vice President Richard Nixon and Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev have a " Kitchen Debate" about the merits of their competing political systems.

Miss New York, Vanessa Williams, becomes the first Miss America to resign from her duties, on July 23, 1984, following the release of nude photographs from 1982 to be published in Penthouse magazine. She was the first African American to wear the crown; her successor, Miss New Jersey Suzette Charles, is the second.
