Register Now for AARP Home Improvement, Aging in Place Talk With Ty Pennington
By Andrew Soergel, December 12, 2022 03:18 PM
En español | We’re hosting designer and TV personality Ty Pennington — host of popular reality series like "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and HGTV’s "Rock The Block" — for a virtual discussion about home improvement ideas and how to make a home more comfortable and safe to age in. Pennington and AARP family and caregiving expert Amy Goyer will explain how to start with small projects and what you or a loved one should anticipate as your physical needs change.
More than 3 in 4 (77 percent) adults age 50 and up plan to stay in their current homes long term, according to an AARP report published last year. But a third of all respondents said they would need to modify their home to make that happen. Bathroom modifications were the most common need cited by older adults hoping to age in place, followed closely by improved indoor/outdoor accessibility.
The virtual event begins Monday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. ET. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Sign up now, and learn more through the AARP Virtual Community Center.
