Read the list of winners from AARP’s star-studded Movies for Grownups Awards, which aired on PBS Friday, and watch the show on PBS.org or the PBS Video app. Will Smith (King Richard) and Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) took home awards for best actor and best actress, while Michael Keaton was crowned best TV actor.
"Just because we’re all grownups doesn't mean we kind of sit back and relax and retire. We have jobs to do, which is to move the ball forward on a lot of issues," Keaton said while accepting his award for his role on Dopesick. Other winners included:
- Best TV actress: Jean Smart, Hacks
- Best picture: Belfast
- Best director: Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog
- Best screenwriter: Tony Kushner, West Side Story
We also honored actress and comedian Lily Tomlin — known for her roles on TV shows like Grace and Frankie and films like 9 to 5 — with our annual Career Achievement Award. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the Movies for Grownups Awards, which started as a magazine article to encourage more movies and shows starring and made for people age 50-plus.
