Late in Life Divorce, Not So Rare

As you have probably heard, Al and Tipper Gore are getting a divorce after 40 years of marriage. USA Today called it a 'shocker.' I think it's a sign that boomers aren't their parents generation...so we shouldn't expect them to act like they are.
But the Gores divorce does leave one thinking, that after 40 years of growing together, forming your interests around each other's interests, sharing friends and experiences that separating after so long is extremely difficult and rare. But get this ..it's not all that rare! AARP's love and relationship expert Dr. Pepper Schwartz explains why in this AARP.org article.
Dr. Pepper Schwartz says people are living longer, they are healthier and have more options in how they want to spend the next 25 to 35 years of their life.
