Susan Sarandon Is a Grandmother!

Actress Susan Sarandon, 67, has played grandmothers in motion pictures, including The Lovely Bones (2009) and, more recently, Tammy.

Now her make-believe experience will be put to work in real life.

The Oscar-winning actress and self-proclaimed " Ping-Pong propagandist" officially became a grandmother on Aug. 9, when daughter Eva Amurri Martino, 29, and her husband, Kyle Martino, 33, a sports analyst for NBC, welcomed their first child into the world: Marlowe Mae Martino, who weighed in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces.

The parents announced the news over Twitter. From Eva Amurri Martino: "What a weekend! @kylemartino are thrilled to announce the arrival of our sweet baby girl! Mama and Daddy love you a zillion, Marlowe Mae 💗." From Kyle Martino: "Can't believe I'm a dad!!! @4EvaMartino and I are over the moon in love with our little girl Marlowe. #Love."

Sarandon, however, apparently has no intention of ever being called "Grandma."

"I borrowed this name from a very dear friend of mine who's from the South," she told People magazine. "His grandma was 'Honey.' That's what I'm experimenting with and Eva likes it, so we'll see."
