Household Products You've Been Using Wrong

Did you know that aluminum foil boxes have little tabs you push in on the ends to hold the roll in place?

Did you know most people use those paper toilet seat covers in public restrooms the wrong way?

Or that Chinese takeout containers are made to be unfolded into plates?

Yeah, neither did I. Neither, apparently, did the 4 million other people who viewed Gabby Noone's recent Buzzfeed list of 18 everyday products that you've been using wrong.

I'm not quite sure how I've lived this long without realizing that the pull-tab on a soda can has a hole to hold your straw. Or that the lid of the Tic Tac container is engineered to dispense one mint at a time, so we need to stop shakin' that thing like fools.

However, I have known for years that jars of natural peanut butter need to be stored upside down to keep the PB from separating. Not that I'm bragging or anything.

In fact, the list was so intriguing, I did a little digging and came up with one more tip I bet you didn't know:

Did you realize that the tip of the potato peeler is there so you can dig out the little sprouty eyes from your peeled spuds?

That came from The Bitten Word website, which also suggests using the tip to de-hull strawberries. Genius!
