Good News About Volunteering

Some good news on the volunteer front today: according to a new study from AARP, even though volunteering through organizations has leveled off over the past couple of years, many of us are also volunteering on our own to help people who are in need in our communities and neighborhoods. Respondents also reported shorter, more episodic trends in the way they serve. What does it all mean? Older Americans are getting more creative about how they give back by working it into their busy lives, doing a little bit here and a little but there. Ultimately, they're making it count by serving regardless of whether they have five minutes, five hours or five days.
