Watch Our New Ad Featuring National Champion University of Georgia Football Team

En español | AARP Georgia teamed up with members of the University of Georgia’s football team to produce a new ad to raise awareness of scams and fraud and promote the AARP Fraud Watch Network. It features quarterback Stetson Bennett and other members of the Georgia Bulldogs’ 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship team.

“AARP wants to help you protect yourself and your loved ones like these guys protect me,” Bennett says in the video, flanked by offensive linemen Sedrick Van Pran and Tate Ratledge, and tight end Ryland Goede.

Consumers reported losing nearly $6 billion to scams and fraud last year — up 70 percent year over year — according to the Federal Trade Commission. Imposter scams like identity theft, online shopping fraud and lottery scams were among the most common. And even though older fraud victims tended to lose more to criminals and scammers than other age groups — with a median loss of $1,500 — no age group was immune.

“These crooks target people of any age; in fact, 41 percent of those who reported a fraud loss to the Federal Trade Commission last year were under the age of 30,” Debra Tyler Horton, state director of AARP Georgia, said in a statement this week.
