Who doesn't want to save money in this tough economy? A new article in the AARP Bulletin on 99 Ways to Save has tips to help you do just that, on everything from car expenses to caring for your health and your home.
It's no secret that food prices are on the rise, and some foods give you more vitamins and minerals for the money. Best veggies for your buck are cabbage, collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens and carrots. Top fruits include watermelon, plums, oranges, apples and strawberries.
Did you know that if you keep a cell phone just for emergencies, you can drop your plan and still call 911 for free? As long as the phone works, you don't even need to have a service plan or an assigned phone number.
To repel mosquitoes for less, dab lavender oil on your skin. You can also dissolve two teaspoons of cider vinegar in a glass of water for a pore-emitted repellent.
