Work it!

Check out this story from the New York Times today. According to the article, the "graying of the gym" is a phenomenon happening before our very eyes. Get this: gym membership among adults aged 55 and up rose to 10.5 million in 2008 - up from 1.5 million in 1987! That makes this group the fastest growing segment of the gym-goer population, according to annual surveys by the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association.
There are classes being offered specifically for the older folks who file into the gym after the before-work younger crowd has headed off to start their days. And at Island Fitness, the California gym featured in the story, even the gym music switches for the older crowd!
Are you getting yourself active at a local health club?
I also liked this blog post from Time's "Wellness" blog encouraging all of us to get just enough sleep! The blog cites a study showing that those who sleep more than 8 hours or fewer than 5 hours a night were more likely to have the dreaded "belly fat" and a higher body mass index (BMI) than those participants who were on target with 6-8 hours of sleep.
What will they discover next?
