organizing finances on mobile app
Getting more organized and living healthier are classic New Year's resolutions.  If you're like me, you need all the help you can get. Here are six mobile apps that can help. While they aren't marketed specifically to the 50+ audience, I've found reasons they can make our lives easier. I use them all regularly. They are free and available on iPhone or Android.
Keeping up to date
Think you might have bronchitis, a sinus infection,  or other non-life threatening illness and can't wait for an appointment with your regular doctor?  Not sure if you should go to the ER?  Have travel plans and worried if you should fly?  Then these online medical-care sites and mobile apps might be your answer.
knitting, crafting
Knitters and crocheters proudly admit they're almost like a cult. They regularly lure new members promising creativity and stress relief.  Their passion for yarns, color, texture, and stitch patterns bind them. They flock to the Web searching for future project ideas. I know this because I am a knitter.
phone album
Photos unite family and friends, so if you want to be the hit of a holiday party, just copy my friend Pauline. She recently sat down at brunch and whipped out a stunning book she had made from photos on her iPhone.  She said she compiled it with a really easy-to-use mobile app. The beauty and coolness of the photo album got more raves than photos of her grandkids.
mobile point of sale gadgets
If my friend Beth's recent holiday buying is any indication, shoppers are in for a more-connected experience. Last week, my 82-year-old buddy wanted to buy a platter at her church bazaar. She was met with a "newfangled credit-card" gadget.
iphone, ios4, upgrades
If you are using an iPhone 4, 4S or 5, and are thinking about upgrading to Apple's new operating system iOS 7-be prepared for a learning curve.
LinkedIn Contacts page
As a boomer who launched a new company a little over a year ago, I've had to learn a tremendous amount about social media, and how to use it.
Samsung Galaxy Phone
I decided to dedicate one week to trying some new applications purely designed to amuse me. No time management apps, no healthcare apps, no organization apps, no how to count calorie apps -just enjoyable apps.
digifit
I'm hooked on health and fitness digital devices.
travel apps
Traveling can be complicated. There are so many choices - like which airline to fly, which seat to select, which hotel to pick, which restaurants to sample, and which sights to explore.
